DeforestAction is an on-going project to stop deforestation. Its current focus is in Sintang Lestari, West Kalimantan. The model adopted by DeforestAction shows promise in terms of its educational thrust and realistic engagement with the Dayaks (creating a sustainable livelihood for them, unlike orientalist views of the pristine, untouched "native"). All too often, the locals are left out of the equation or treated as though they don't have apsirations of their own.
